Personality: Jiro, even though he has to act fairly fearless as a soldier, is kind-hearted and goes out of his way to keep Kiyoshi's secret a secret. He also keeps his own secret about Kiyoshi...
History: Jiro is Ayame's older brother. When he was 15, Atsumi (known to him as Etsuko) was 5 years old and lived next door to them. Jiro, even though he was 10 years older then her, grew to admire her. In a flashback we see him telling Ayame that when Etsuko gets older she will be a very beautiful girl. As time progressed, Jiro started to fall in love with the little girl. Atsumi, herself, refused to kill Jiro when she found out that he was a soldier because she still admired him after 12 years. Jiro was also the first person for Kiyoshi to actually get to know and became his best friend. Jiro, however, has his own "feelings of admiration" toward Kiyoshi, but he still remembers the little neighbor girl.
